The following is the Morden Police Service Report for the period of February 20 to February 27, 2017, as submitted by the department.

February 20th, 2017
Police received a report of an ice shack vandalized on Lake Minnewasta.  The owner reports that sometime last week, he noticed a window was smashed in his ice shack.  Anyone with information regarding this incident is asked to call the Morden Police Service at 822-4900, Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477, submit a secure tip online at www.manitobacrimestoppers.com or text “TIPMAN” plus your message to CRIMES (274637).

February 20th, 2017
Around 10:45 pm this date, an off-duty police officer reported a disturbance at the Access Event Centre in Morden.  Several individuals were observed to be intoxicated, yelling and swearing at people as they left the centre.  Police attended and observed two of the individuals with beer in their hands.  As a result, one adult male was charged with consuming liquor in a public place and one male youth charged with consuming liquor by a minor.  Another male youth had an endorsed Warrant for Arrest out of Brandon for Break & Enter.  He was arrested and released on a Promise to Appear in Brandon Provincial Court in March.  Two other individuals, one adult and one youth, were arrested for breach of undertaking for failing to abstain from the consumption of alcohol and another for failing to abide by a curfew.  They will be appearing in Morden Provincial Court in March.

February 22nd, 2017
A 46-year-old male is facing a charge of mischief for vandalizing a vehicle as well as two counts of breach of probation.  Police received a complaint from a victim who witnessed a neighbor break the antenna off her car.  The accused was arrested for mischief and was released on a Promise to Appear in Morden Provincial Court in March.  He is also on two separate Probation Orders with conditions to keep the peace and be of good behavior.  Alcohol appears to have been a factor in this incident.  

February 24th, 2017
A 15-year-old youth is charged with breach of probation for failing to comply with conditions to report to a probation officer.  The youth was charged in May of 2016 for two counts of theft and remanded to January 22nd, 2017.  The youth was ordered to report to her probation officer by a certain date but failed to do so.  She will be appearing in Morden Provincial Court in April.  

February 24th, 2017
Police received a call around 11:20 pm from a resident in Morden advising that a male just came to her door asking her to call police regarding a domestic assault.  The caller advised that she could hear a lot of yelling coming from the neighbor’s residence. Police attended the residence and spoke with a witness who observed her sister assault her boyfriend several times by slapping him.  The 31-year-old female was arrested for assault and lodged in cells overnight until sober, as alcohol was a factor in this incident.  The accused will be appearing in Morden Provincial Court in March.


February 26th, 2017
A 43-year-old Brandon woman is charged with three counts of failing to comply with a recognizance after showing up at a residence in Morden.  Around 1:30 am, police received a call from a victim reporting that he just moved to Morden and is on a no contact order with the accused and the accused is on a no contact order with him.  The accused refused to leave his residence so the victim left and went to a relative’s house for the night.  The victim advised that the accused is probably still at the residence.  Police attended the residence and located the accused sleeping in the living room.  She was arrested for failing to comply with a recognizance by failing to abide by a curfew, failing to maintain her residence as well as breaching her no contact/communication condition with the victim.   The accused was remanded into custody and transported to the Women’s Correctional Facility in Headingley.  She will be appearing in Portage Provincial Court February 27th.
