A Morden teenager is facing assault charges after an incident involving a cane.

On September 7, at approximately midnight, Morden Police Service was dispatched to the corner of 14th St. and Stephen St. where they spoke with a victim. The man explained he was walking home in the back lane when three young males approached him. Two males began harassing him when the third male swung a cane at him, though he was able to block the cane with his arm.

At this point, the victim immediately took out his cell phone and stated he was calling the police. The suspects fled the scene though police located them a short time later.

The 19-year-old Morden resident was arrested for assault with a weapon and was released on a promise to appear in Morden Provincial Court in October.
