Over 100 people came out for the 2017 Manitoba Liquor and Lotteries Morden MS Walk last weekend, and have helped raise nearly $19,000 so far.

"It's all about supporting people that we know with MS," Event Organizer Claire Agnew says.

Agnew's sister lives with MS and "I'm involved in the walk every year... it's something I can do to show my support."

Canada, unfortunately, has some of the highest rates of MS in the world.

"The walk has grown in popularity in the last few years," she says. "There's a core of people that are always here, and every year there are some new people added."

Money raised goes towards world-leading research in Canada, helping improve the quality of life for those affected by MS.

MS Society's Darrell Hominik explains he regularly sees the passion and commitment of participants at the MS Walk.

"People are coming out wanting to make a difference for loved ones living with MS," he says.

"The disease brings a lot of uncertainty and unpredictability, and we want to ensure people living with MS don't feel alone," he says.

Donations are still accepted towards the goal of $25,000.
