The Morris Cadet Corp along with the support of the Royal Canadian Air Force Band sold out this past weekend's annual fundraiser.

The cadets hold a yearly fundraiser to support ongoing activities and for the last two years have been raising funds for twenty-one cadets to make a trip to France, to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the battle of Vimy Ridge during world war 1.

Sergeant David Grenon Vocalist in The Royal Canadian Air Force Band says it was important to the members to support the cadets at this event.

"I was a cadet myself when I was a kid, and then an instructor. To be here and support the cadet program in this region is something that is really close to our hearts and we are really happy to be here," said Grenon

Commanding Officer Captain Roxanne Maynard says Saturday's event was important because we need to do things for our country and always remember.

"I think most or all of the soldiers that battled in World War one are no longer around and we are free because of the sacrifice they made. So for us we are doing something for the youth of our country and they will be the ones carrying on the tradition and ensuring we never forget," said Maynard.

Vice Chair of The Cadet Corp Committee says the response on Saturday was overwhelming.

"We were aiming to sell three-hundred tickets and we actually exceeded that, so we were very pleased with that. We also received a good response to our silent auction. The funds raised on Saturday will go to supporting ongoing cadet activities and the twenty-one cadets that will travel to France in May," explained Fontaine.

Fontaine went on to say a big thank you to all those that attended, and to those that took the time to put it together and run the event, noting they are very grateful for the response.
