Gavin van der Linde, Mayor for the Town of Morris, has announced he will be seeking re-election in October's municipal vote.

"I've been mayor for two terms now, and it's been one of the parts of my life that I really really enjoy. Engaging with the council, leading the community, we're always looking into the future trying to decide what is best for the community, listening to community members. That piece of it is something that I enjoy," said van der Linde.

Van der Linde is looking forward to running for at least one more term but isn't looking further into the future just yet. As for the upcoming term, there are projects in the works he'd like to keep working on.

"We've been looking at some more housing options," said van der Linde, adding council is looking at rental housing, multi-family housing options, and assisted living. "We're actively working on those, those are long-term projects."

"We're also looking at basic services like making sure we have decent high-speed internet in the community, and as a council, we're looking at proactively upgrading that," he added.

The 2018 municipal general election is scheduled for Wednesday, October 24th.
