Dry conditions were behind two fire calls for service on Saturday in the Morris area.

Morris Fire Chief, Wes Zilkie said around 5:30 AM fire fighters from Rosenort and Morris were called to a ditch fire 10 KMs north of Morris. A spark from the engine of a moving train lit some nearby dry grass. It took 5.5 hours to put out the blaze.

Then at 3:45 PM Morris and Rosenort fire fighters joined forces again to put out a bush fire east of Morris. Some crop residue burning got out of hand with the wind and carried the flames into some nearby brush. Crews worked for about 6 hours to extinguish that fire.

Zilkie says no property was lost in either incident.
