On Wednesday the Tim Hortons in Morris donated $2,669 to the Morris Splash Park.

Bree Langlais, the Morris Recreation Director, accepted the check on behalf of Melanie Friesen, project manager for the Splash Park.

Co-owners Keith and Kathy Corbel raised the money through an annual fundraiser called Smile Cookie, which took place from Sept. 11-17.

"The money for Smile Cookie is raised two different ways," said Kathy Corbel. "We sell cookies right in the restaurant and every single dollar that is spent on a cookie... the full amount goes directly to the organization."

The second way that money was raised involved local businesses pre-ordering cookies, which Langlais and Friesen would then deliver.

"We chose the Splash Park this year because of course it's local, and we know that it's going to bring a lot of benefit to a very wide and diverse group of families and kids in the community, so we really wanted to see happen," said Corbel.

Friesen said the money will go toward construction and landscaping costs. She noted the brick fundraiser is still underway, which is an opportunity to have a family name or business logo become part of the community walkway within the Splash Park area.
