Friday marks the beginning of the annual Morden Corn and Apple Festival. Anticipations were high with a combination of festival staples and exciting new attractions.

Jocelyn Durand, an overseer of sponsorship, volunteers, and community events during the festival explains what people can expect this Friday.

Durand also says the festival’s opening ceremony will begin at 6:00 p.m., with Snake Oil performing at 9:00 p.m.

, and people who dress up. It’s just a whole bunch of people getting together and enjoying the same interests."

Comic Con starts Saturday at noon on 9th and North Railway.

United Way’s Combine Pull features the pull and a Calcutta event, where teams are auctioned off with a 50/50 split of money raised in the auction between the buyer of the winning team and the United Way.

Morden District and United Way Chair Terry Gibson says it’s going to be a full day of combine.

"First of all, we have our combine in the parade. The combine you see in the parade will be the same combine the teams will be pulling. The main event will be the Calcutta and Combine Pull."

Registrations for teams closed earlier in August, but people can head down Saturday at 2:00 p.m. when the auction begins, behind the main stage parking lot – just look for the combine.

Sunday’s Morden Corn and Apple Festival Show and Shine through The Border Hills Car Club and Southern Manitoba Harley Owners Groups goes from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m.

Car enthusiasts can head to the Morden Park where there will be free judging, music, food, viewing of classic cars, hot rods, and motorcycles.

For those who have never participated Secretary of Border Hills Car Club Malcolm Doney, says registration is easy.

"We have no entry fee, we get you in, we get you parked. We're working with Import Unlimited Group, helping us parking cars. You get settled in, you come up, register at the tent than sitting back and enjoy."
