Eden Health Care Services in Winkler has welcomed Analyn Einarson into its organization to fill the role of chief executive officer.

Einarson is originally from Vienna, Austria, but moved to Canada before pursuing a degree in psychology. Since then she has worked extensively in the field and has a background in Child and Family Services.

Although this was only her first week in the new position, she said she is pleasantly surprised by the community's involvement and support with Eden services.

With her new role, she said she is most looking forward to the helping, empowering and educating aspect of the job which comes along with working with individuals who live with mental health issues and challenges.

“When we educate our young people early on then they're not afraid to reach out and help, because sometimes the fear of the unknown is the mental illness stigma,” she said.

Another thing she is anticipating is assistance from the provincial government in the field of mental health.

“Now with our new provincial government I think what's exciting for me is that one of the things they say they believe is important to look into is mental health... I really hope that's something they connect with communities... to see what more we can do for the province and the population,” she said.

At the end of the day, Einarson says she believes providing these mental health services is about doing God's work and helping out your neighbour.
