A new home care service coming to the Pembina Valley is the realization of a lifelong dream for Celma Pinto. The Heavenly Care Agency is an organization created to help the elderly and those with a disability.

Pinto explained the inspiration to start Heavenly Care came from her mother, who was a nurse in Pinto's home country of Mozambique. Pinto says she remembered helping her mother taking care of others in the hospital.

Now she hopes Heavenly Care can complement the provincial Home Care program by offering extended services that may not be available otherwise.

Pinto came to Canada 20 years ago with the intention of helping others like her mother. She received a Bachelors Degree in Business from the Asper School of Business. She also completed her healthcare aid diploma at Robertson College.

Feeling her calling was in the field of medical aid, she worked towards her degree in nursing at Red River College. After a few more years working within the financial world in Winnipeg, Pinto decided to combine her experience from both fields of business management and medical aid, creating Heavenly Care.

Pinto explained when someone is in need of care, the family can approach Heavenly Care who will work with Home Care to get an assessment of the services required by their loved one.  The family may then get Home Care to provide the required services or ask Heavenly Care to develop a personalized care program

If the family decides to go with the Self and Family Management Care program, Heavenly Care can be approached to allow for a more involved and in-depth aspect of the care of their loved one. Different options are offered within Heavenly Care like housekeeping, cooking meals, walking with the client, bringing the client to different appointments, companionship, and monitoring medication.
