Students at Emerson School can look forward to a new play structure this fall.

A new play area has been installed to replace the former one, which was over 20-years-old, made of wood, and no longer met school standards, said project committee member Jackie Despiegelaere.

This up-to-date playground is a continuous play area, is made of modern materials, and is surrounded by wood chips instead of pea gravel, she added.

It took volunteers a full weekend to install and is ready for the coming school year.

The Emerson School Advisory Council had spent a couple years fundraising but finally met their goal through hosting events such as Colour Runs and a social. The remaining amount was covered by Border Land School Division and a $5,000 grant from Hometown Manitoba.
