Manitoba's Passion Play is now into its 18th season.

The production at the outdoor amphitheatre at La Riviere first took to the stage back in 2000. The production gives an account of the life of Jesus Christ.

The production each year attracts actors and actresses from across southern Manitoba. “I was in the first play back in 2000 and have only missed a few plays over the years” said Larry Cox of Killarney.

This year Larry Cox plays a priest and he thoroughly enjoys being on stage to tell such an important story. “My wife is in the orchestra this year and in previous years she was also on stage performing.”

The production aims to show something of the nature and character of Jesus himself and of the overwhelming love of His Father.

“It's very well written and some adjustments have been made over the years. The music was also written by a Manitoba composer so that is quite unique” said Cox.

Cox adds it is a real family performance and the cast becomes a family. They start rehearsals in May and they see each other every week leading up to the production.

The 2017 Manitoba's Passion Play run July 8th and 9th and July 14th-16th.
