The second year of free childcare in the park, funded by the City of Morden, started last week Tuesday with around 15 children playing in the Morden Park.

It's called Pals on the Playground, and provides an hour of supervised play time, giving the parents a break to run errands or attend events. Or, if they want, parents can stay and chat with other parents in the community.

"It's open to any parent and their child," said summer program coordinator for the City of Morden, Courtney Yeo.

"It is utilized by newcomers to Morden and parent who have other kids in sports," she said.

Yeo commented that by the end of the evening, the bowl in the Morden Park was littered with toys and equipment, proving to her that it had been a success.

"We got to know the parents and the kids, they made some new friends. It was a great time," said Yeo.

Pals on the Playground was started to give parents a free, after-hours option for childcare. Children aged three to 12 are welcome to attend each Tuesday at Morden Park at 6 p.m.
