Saturday, Scotiabank and other businesses came together in support of the Winkler and District Christmas Cheerboard with the 'Holly Jolly Breakfast'.

People could come down to Winkler's Southland Mall to enjoy a Pancake breakfast, live music by local entertainers, a kids choir from J.R. Walkof Elementary, as well as the 'Toy Show Weekend' at the mall.

Donations were accepted with the goal of allowing the Winkler and District Cheerboard to help over 300 families in need in the area.

Cheerboard President Francis Fehr, says none of this would be possible without the support of the local businesses and communities and explains seeing the faces of the kids when they receive a hamper is what makes the job worth it.

"It's amazing when you drop off some of these hampers and you watch some of the reactions and excitement of these kids. They know it's coming, they know they're going to get a gift for Christmas where they might normally not. The looks and the thank you's, we've even had hugs, it's been wonderful."

The Cheeboard raised $5,070.56 in donations, with Scotiabank matching with a $5,000 donation, reaching a total of $10,070.56.
