The Morden Parent and Child Resource Centre (MPCRC) hosted Morden's first Kite Fest Friday afternoon at Morden Park.

Kids and their parents could learn to make their own basic kites, or fly their own.

"I've seen it happen before," said Janine North, program coordinator of the MPCRC, "where the community comes out and they all have fun flying kites, so I wanted to bring that to that to the community."

Kite Fest was organized in partnership with Morden Recreation, checking off another activity off the Canada 150 Play list the City began weeks ago.

One man, Rick Bergmann was flying a large kite with his grandson on the sunny afternoon. Bergmann said flying kites was kind of like looking into a bonfire, mesmerizing in a way. He was happy to be spending time with his grandson as the weekend began.
