The Pembina Valley Live app remains the most successful community app launch in Golden West history.

"We've had a number of app launches," Dave Lehman, Manager of Digital Media for Golden West says. "But just the interest from the audience and number of downloads is the best so far."

The new free app, Pembina Valley Live, launched last month for Apple and Android devices.

However, he notes a server issue caused some of the news and sports updates to not appear.

Those issues have been fixed with the latest update. Apple users can find the update on the app store.

Along with alerts for breaking news, Amber alerts and weather warnings, the app allows users to stream live CFAM 950, The Eagle 93.5 as well as Country 88.

The app will also allow organizations to alert the community to cancelled classes or sports events.

Users can also program garbage day notifications for their district, which sends a message to your device the night before garbage goes out.

Leyman explains the app isn't meant to replace PembinaValleyOnline.com, but an enhancement.

"It's meant to give you access to some quick and useful information," he says. "We tried to capture things a lot of people are doing regularly and make that a better, easier experience."
