A precautionary drinking water notice has been lifted by the Pembina Valley Water Co-op.

Customers in Rhineland, Montcalm, Emerson-Franklin municipalities, and the Town of Altona, were issued the notice Thursday afternoon after a distribution pump failure at the Letellier Water Treatment Plant resulted in low pressure in the water entering the distribution system. The pump was repaired was back in service within two hours.

However, water users experiencing a sputtering water flow, or discoloured water, were advised to run their tap until the water appeared clear.

Water users were also given the option to take additional precautions and use an alternate source of water, or boil tap water for consumption until the test results are back.

Test results from across the region have since come back and indicate the potable water is safe to drink.
