The bike track in the Morden Park south bowl received an expansion this spring. Morden parks manager Shawn Dias noted phase two of this track is a bit more of an open concept compared to phase one, which was completed last year.

"It has a variety of banked corners and terrain features that allow kids and adults to ride through the track. This year we had Capital Landscaping come back in and build phase two. They were able to put in a few wooden structures in there as well and added some additional features. They now have utilized the entire bowl," said Dias.

Phase two has a variety of features including a number of inclined ramps, narrow wooden structures to balance on, and a few hill type jumps and areas, keeping up with the terrain of the bowl.

Dias noted phase one was a great way to get people to use the bowl in the park and added phase two just expands the usage of the bike track throughout the whole designated area. Phase one was more of a pump bike track, which requires minimal pedaling and the use of your body and momentum to get through. Meanwhile, Phase two uses the terrain a bit more with its hills and challenges the riders to balance on a smaller section of wood with their bikes.

"I think these things are continuously being maintained. With that constant maintenance it's always nice to change it up and keep it interesting," said Dias. "Especially with it being dirt, we'll be able to maintain it and can change or upgrade some of the features in there."

Dias noted the track is open when the park is open and can be used by all ages.
