As businesses and organizations reopen and settle into another new normal, physiotherapy will be no exception.

Leah Klassen, Manager/Part-Owner of Pembina Valley Physiotherapy says, leading up to this point "the physiotherapists were at home. They weren’t necessarily working but what we would do is, I would check for messages and any patient that had some concerns or need to talk to a therapist, our therapist would just call them."

Being in the business of healthcare means they already have numerous protocols in place for how to keep clean. There will just be a few additional boxes to check off that list as they see patients visiting the office again.

"We always wipe doorknobs and chairs... We’re calling patients prior to their appointment, and pre-screening as per the link on the government website for COVID-19. We’re just making sure everyone is keeping their distance in the clinic."

To help accommodate this they’ve spaced out cubicles in the office, and bring patients to those spaces when they arrive. This will help limit congestion in the waiting room and entrance.

"We’re excited to be back at work. We know that it’s a needed service... so we’re really happy to be providing the service to our patients."

Klassen adds, for essential service workers who have been working more hours than they may be used to, they’re excited to be giving back to them by taking care of their physical health.
