Winkler Family Resource Centre will put money raised from Friday evening's now-annual quiz night toward keeping pre-school programming free for families in the community.

The total collected through donations and entry fees was about $2,000 which coordinator Cathy Savage says will go a long way to maintaining the programs and activities offered by the resource centre.

"We're very pleased with the amount we've raised tonight," Savage said. "[It's} staying right here in the community, so that's a really good thing.

This year's quiz night was pirate themed with some teams donning costumes. The winning team, the Plank Cheques from Access Credit Union, won thanks to their knowledge of the 80's sitcom, The Cosby Show.

"This is a big win for the Plank Cheques," said team leader, Joel Billings.

"This is my second year developing the team. A lot of effort, a lot of thought went into who I wanted on this team. [I'm] really happy with the results, a great team effort."

Attendance on Friday was roughly the same as last year's quiz night with 13 tables being filled.

Some people at the quiz night took the pirate-theme seriously.

$2,000 was raised for the Winkler Family Resource Centre.
