Laurie Dyck will remain board chair of the Garden Valley School Division for the upcoming school year.

Laurie Dyck, who is entering her fourth straight term as board chair, says she feels honoured to have been elected and have the confidence of the board, and she looks forward to working with the strong team around her

At the board's regular meeting Tuesday, Dyck was elected to continue in the role she's held for the past three straight terms.

Also Tuesday, John Klassen was elected vice-chair of the board.

Looking ahead to the 2017/2018 school year, Dyck says planning for the new school and hiring a principal for it will be a big piece of what this year is about.

"We're staying on the straight and narrow...we have our goals set as far as divisional literacy, numeracy, PLCs, that's not changing as it is working well," said Dyck.

With this being the last term prior to the next election in just over a year from now, Dyck said the board will also work to streamline things as best they can to make the transition as clear and easy as possible for the next elected board.
