Carman RCMP continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding the death of an area farm dog.

In a statement submitted to our newsroom, the owner of 8-year-old Rusty says the dog was lured away from his home - a rural yard near Winkler - around 10:30 p.m. Friday evening. The owners found Rusty the next day a few miles away with multiple stab wounds believed to be from a screwdriver, it also appeared that the dog was dragged behind a vehicle with a tow rope wrapped around his neck.

A police report has been made and the owners hope that somebody has information that will help catch the culprits. Tips can be made to Carman Area RCMP.

The owners of Rusty have now started a GoFundMe page to raise reward money that will go to anyone who provides information leading to an arrest in the case. A percentage of the dollars will also go the Pembina Valley Humane Society.
