The Pembina Valley Pregnancy Care Centre is celebrating a 30 year legacy of life in the Winkler/Morden area.

"When we look back to 1987 and all the women and families who have been supported," Executive Director Linda Marek says. "It's neat to think that today we have 29 year-old men and women alive and well because their mom made a brave choice all those years ago."

She notes they're grateful for the founders who grew the organization to what it is today.

Last year alone over 110 women and families received support, including 50 new clients and over 1000 volunteer hours.

Clients receive pregnancy option information, as well as parenting education, after-abortion grief counselling.

"There's different values around sexuality, and more young people, at younger ages, are having more sexual experiences," she says. "Out of that comes pregnancy and more people having to make those decisions."

The busy year only highlights the need for Pregnancy Care in the region, "we're glad to be there for anyone, no matter their age, and provide them with information and support," Marek says.

Pregnancy Care is also holding a fundraising banquet to celebrate 30 years.

The event takes place Saturday, March 11 in Morden and will feature a special drama presentation by Candlewick/Danceworks. Tickets are free, call 204.325.7900 to reserve your spot.
