RCMP continued to see high-risk driving behaviour during Canada Road Safety Week, which ran from May 16th-22nd.

During this week a variety of check stops were postioned in different communities across Manitoba including Virden, Thompson, Steinbach, oissevain, Falcon Beach, and Treherne. In addition to this, patrols were made on a smaller scale in many other locations in the Province.

RCMP were kept busy during this time and were finding dirvers were still making dangerous choices.

- 33 people charged with Criminal Code Impaired Driving
- 18 alcohol- or drug-related administrative suspensions
- 33 charges for failing to wear seatbelts
- 541 charges for speeding
- 15 charges for using a handheld electronic device while driving
- 262 other traffic-related charges
- 24 prohibited/suspended drivers
- 2 fatalities

Educating the public in safe driving practices remains a priority of all RCMP Traffic Services Units and Detachments.
