The cost of running summer programs at Youth for Christ - The Station has been offset thanks to a donation from CFAM Radio 950. The Altona-based radio station raised $860 through a vinyl record sale during its First Day of Summer BBQ on June 21.

"Getting money from unlikely sources is always awesome because it's unexpected. It's interesting coming from a vinyl sale (because) I'm a vinyl collector," said Marty Falk, director of the YFC drop-in centre.

Falk noted the summer programs run two afternoons a week and are geared towards youth ages 4 to 7.

"We just try to make it an introduction to The Station for younger kids. Sometimes (they) can be a bit nervous about coming into The Station and (these programs) let them learn about it a little bit in a safe environment where there isn't a bunch of older kids around and we try to teach them about Jesus," he said.
