Monday was graduation day for students at the Winkler campus of Red River College.

A total of 83 students received a certificate or diploma in various programs, along with 15 graduates who earned their mature student High School diploma.

Naomi Reimer received her certificate in the Nurses Aid Program, and summed up her time at Red River as a great experience on her path to the healthcare field.

Reimer said the instructors, who were all nurses left a wonderful impression. She said they were very knowledgeable, and displayed a lot of patience.

"They always had time for us, and a lot of them took time to read over our assignments with us, and went through things to make sure we all understood what was expected of us," Reimer said. "And that was encouraging."

As for her classmates, Reimer said they all worked very well together and many close friendships were made, "we had people in their 40's and as young as 17.  So we had a wide range of students and it just worked really well."

Reimer said having the Red River College Campus in Winkler was a huge benefit, allowing her to keep her job and attend school.

"I didn't have to quit, and that was a really big plus for me...It was really easy and it wasn't overwhelming."
