Rosenort's Christopher Peters recently won the eleven and twelve-year-old category of the Pitch, Hit, and Run competition held in Minneapolis at Target Field.

"It's an awesome feeling. It has happened to me twice, but it's awesome to have that plaque in my hands," said Peters.

Peters conquered the same feat four years ago in 2013.

This Major League Baseball youth skills competition features three aspects pitching, hitting, and running the bases and brings the top baseball players from around Canada and the United States together for a chance to be crowned champion.

Peters stated you get six balls to pitch into the strike zone, the hitting component see's competitors hit a ball off a tee for the longest distance possible, and the running portion is an all out sprint from second base to home plate.

"It's just another baseball thing that I can work for at home so I can get better at baseball and help my Rosenort team."

Peters is in the top thirty in North America for his age group and just missed out for the chance to compete at the 2017 MLB All-Star game in Miami July 11th. He remains optimistic that he'll be able to get there next year.

He stated not only was it great to capture first place, but he will remember stepping onto a major league field and being able to walk past his favourite MLB player.

"It was cool to walk by my favourite player, Edwin Encarnacion. I was tempted to give him a high-five, but he was too focused," concluded Peters.
