Morden will be the set location of a 'Loop In Time,' a film based on the work of a Swedish surrealist painter.

Mayor Brandon Burley says the City Manager sent out pictures to a Location Agent of Morden's downtown, and says the agent was enthralled with how Morden's old buildings perfectly encapsulated the needed Scandinavian aesthetic.

Burley says this reflects the importance of their downtown. "We've sold the value of Stephen Street to residents and people coming here, and our Corn and Apple has done an excellent job of that. Our sod improvements, those kinds of things that showcase Stephen Street as a destination for people, and I think that has started to pay off. We've maintained the charm and uniqueness of our core."

Signs have been set up around downtown Morden, letting residents known businesses will remain open during filming preparations.

Filming is planned to take place over the next three years, and this mean boosts to the local economy, shares Morden and District Chamber of Commerce Chair, Michelle Sawatzky.

"Crews are large when they come to film. Those people need to eat, they're going to buy things locally, and the spin-off from that, they get to experience Morden. Morden has so much to offer, from them telling their friends and family, and perhaps some national recognition of the great stuff happening in Morden."

Morden being chosen for a film is an exciting moment for the city says Sawatzky, and the city will be able to see how that evolves over the filming process.
