An absence of designated parking has left semi trucks to rely on parking along the shoulder of Highway 75 to access the Morris Tim Hortons quickly and easily.

While some residents have expressed concerns about safety, Mayor Gavin van der Linde said he is not worried.

Van der Linde said because the speed limit within the town limits is only 50 kilometers per hour, he does not think the issue will cause harm to the public, as long as they continue to exercise caution when crossing the road.

Even if the situation proved to be a greater problem, van der Linde said there is nothing the town can do about adding extra parking for semi trucks. While parts of Highway 75 are directly under town jurisdiction, the stretch across Tim Hortons is outside of its jurisdiction. If any changes were to be made, it would be the highway department's responsibility, according to van der Linde.

"We haven't had any complaints yet. We just trust that everyone does their due diligence and looks both ways [before crossing]," he said.
