A young sister and brother duo are helping make other children's stay in hospital a little easier.

Brielle was in grade one she spent some time at the Children's Hospital and, like charity founder Katie Reimer of Katie Cares, she was scared and saw that other kids were too.

She realized that other kids had to stay even longer in hospital, and they would need some company.

When she arrived home she asked her mom if they could do a fundraiser for Katie Cares.

Sept 11th and 12th, the family held a yard sale, offering iced tea and cookies.

At the end of the two-day sale, Brielle 9, and her brother Drew 7, raised over $400 for Katie Cares. They were able to purchase 66 Beany Boos for the Boundary Trails Health Centre to give to children for vaccinations and hospital stays.

"We got to do something that we wanted to do for a long time and we got to make a few people happy," Brielle said. "That makes me feel good."

Ruth Reimer of Katie Cares says the donation coming from kids is one of the best things she can think of.

"It brings a warm feeling to my heart to know that the kids understand what Kaitlyn wanted done. She wanted them to give back in a real way just like she had."
