Six adults were arrested last night in Winkler as the result of a meth trafficking investigation.

Winkler Police say the arrests were made during a traffic stop Thursday night and a quantity of meth, cash and other drug trafficking paraphernalia were seized.

Just before 2:00 a.m. officers conducted a traffic stop on a white Dodge Ram along PTH 14. The investigation lead officers to initially arrest all six occupants of the vehicle for possession of methamphetamine. Three of the occupants were later released with no charges while the other three are facing numerous charges related to drug trafficking.

Police also seized just over five grams of methamphetamine, 2.7 grams of cocaine, $1,200 cash and numerous items of drug trafficking paraphernalia.

A 39-year-old female resident of Carman was remanded into custody with charges of possession of methamphetamine for the purpose of trafficking, possessing cocaine and the proceeds of crime.

A 41-year-old male, also a resident of Carman, was remanded into custody with a charge of possessing the proceeds of crime.

A 32-year-old female, also from Carman, was charged with possessing methamphetamine for the purpose of trafficking and was released on a promise to appear.

"Our officers work hard at investigating illicit drug trafficking," Winkler Police Chief Ryan Hunt says. "Anytime an arrest is made and drugs or cash are seized it interrupts the flow of illegal drugs in and around our community. We know we can’t entirely stop drug activity but anytime we can make it more difficult for those involved it’s a step in the right direction."
