A new Winkler-based soccer team has been added to the local lineup. The South Central (SC) Riot was created two months ago, joining the Winkler Storm and the South Central Hurricanes.

"The main purpose for it was to bridge the gap between high school soccer and Storm soccer," says Philip Unruh, the chair of South Central Soccer Club Board, adding this will allow students to continue playing after high school, or even allow new players to join, while still playing at a competitive level.

The Access Credit Union Corporate Office donated $1,000 on Thursday, to help the Riot obtain new jerseys with their new logo and new equipment for the team.

"Sport is a very unifying activity in many communities," says Wesley Ngwenya, the manager of marketing, noting it's why ACU wishes to continue their support for the local soccer teams.
