In total, 25 students from Morden Collegiate hit the runway Thursday morning as they embark on a journey overseas ahead of spring break.

"I'm really excited because a lot of us are going off to university after, so we won't have the opportunity to go," said Grade 12 Student Kamryn Sawatzky. "A lot of us haven't been to these places and it'll be a good learning experience."

The students and chaperones will be taking the next ten days to tour Ireland, Scotland, and England.

"We haven't been that far into the UK," said trip planner Joyce McCallum. "We basically stuck with Italy and Spain for the majority of our trips and we thought it would be nice to explore different territory."

McCallum outlined some of the main attractions they hope to see during the trip.

"I'm probably most looking forward to going to Scotland," said Sawatzky. "A lot of my family is from there and I'll get to see my heritage."

Sawatzky says she's hoping to learn about the many different cultures, noting it could be a bit of a culture shock.

"It's that cultural sensitivity, the globalization, being able to see different parts of the world and meet different people in those places," said McCallum. "There's also a confidence-building aspect. Us as staff we notice how they emerge and become more confident."

The group of students on the trip is significantly less than last time. McCallum said on the last trip there were 77 students, with this year's trip being around the normal amount.
