Altona's Sun Valley Co-Op Ltd Lumber-Building Supplies is now able to make use of a property purchased 2 years ago.

The house on the property west of the store was purchased and is being relocated.

General Manager Brad Iverson said this area will now be used for lumber storage.

"We're going to be using that property to expand our current lumber yard... as everyone has seen our lumber yard is tight so we'll be relocating the house and using that for new lumber storage," said Iverson.

Co-op is currently storing lumber at the former Home Centre site on 1st Street NW, and Iverson noted it's inconvenient to have material in two different places.

"Our hope is to get more products in one yard, versus trying to have two yards where we're grabbing products from."

A fence will also be added, surrounding the store's outdoor supply area.

Last year the Co-op also expanded east and took over possession of the Pete's Plumbing property. That space was used for parking and additional storage.

Iverson added there are no plans for further expansions at this time.
