The cheque is in the mail for members of Altona based Sun Valley Co-op.

Iverson says members' equity cheques are in the mail

It's that time of year again when the Co-op rewards its members for their patronage over the past year with equity cheques as part of its annual cash back program.

Those cheques will go out to members between October 15-21 as part of National Co-op Week, a celebration of Canadian co-operative and credit union members.

"During this week, we basically give our cash dividends back to our members," said General Manager Brad Iverson.

The general repayment to members this week is based on their purchases in 2016.

"So, in 2016 we had an allocation to our members of $1.3 million, of which $1 million of that money will be paid back this year in cash," noted Iverson.

He added that Sun Valley Co-op will be hosting barbecues at each of its locations to celebrate the event.

"Obviously we want to thank our members for their continued support because without them, we wouldn't exist."

In the past, members would normally pick up their cheques at their respective community events, however, Iverson says that has changed and all equity cheques will be mailed out to members this year.
