Shark Week will get underway tomorrow (Sunday) and Morden's Canadian Fossil Discovery Centre (CFDC) will be celebrating throughout the week as well.

"We will have various Shark theme activities and other events going on at the CFDC, during the week," said Canadian Fossil Discovery Centre field and collection manager, Victoria Markstrom. "Our Shark exhibits will be changed, so we have more Shark exhibits on display at the museum, we'll have Shark facts throughout the museum. We will have a few new Shark documentaries that you can watch in our theatre room. We have a shark tail on our website. It's a kind of colouring page that the kids can bring to the museum. If they bring it in, then their entrance to the Museum is free."

Markstrom noted Shark Week is all about celebrating and learning about the species. She added people may not associate Sharks with Manitoba, because we are right in the middle of a continent and not near many/if any large bodies of water.

"There are Shark fossils found in Manitoba. Sharks were swimming around in the western interior seaway," said Markstrom. "We have around seven different types of Sharks that were found in cretaceous deposits down here in southwestern Manitoba. We have all kinds of neat fossils from them."

Shark Week runs from Sunday, July 23 until Sunday, July 30.

Markstrom stated everyone is welcome to come to the shark week activities at the Museum throughout the week.
