The following is the Morden Police Report for the period of April 3 to April 10, 2017, as submitted by the department

April 3rd, 2017
Morden Police service received a report of Mischief to a vehicle that occurred sometime between Friday March 31st and Saturday April 1st in the 100 block of 9th street.  The victim observed damage to their black Hyundai car and it appeared that the culprit(s) had hit the vehicle with a baseball bat causing extensive damage to the rear passenger side area.  Anyone with information regarding this incident is asked to call the Morden Police Service at 822-4900, Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477, submit a secure tip online at www.manitobacrimestoppers.com or text “TIPMAN” plus your message to CRIMES (274637).


April 3rd, 2017        
Members of the Morden Police Service were investigating the Theft of an Impact Driver / Drill from a Morden business owner.  The suspect was known to the victim and had admitted to stealing the drill but agreed to return it.  Police had previously spoken with the suspect and warned him to return the drill or faces charges.  The drill was not returned and police, along with the assistance of the Winkler Police Service, located the suspect in Winkler.  The suspect was arrested for the Theft of the drill and police located a quantity of LSD (commonly referred to as Acid) and a quantity of Methamphetamines.  The accused was transported to the Morden Police Service and was remanded into custody.  The accused, a 44-year-old male resident of Winkler, has been charged with the following:  Theft Under $5000, Possession of a Controlled Substance, Possession of a Controlled Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking, and for Breaching his Probation.  The accused was transported to the Winnipeg Remand Centre and will appear in Morden Provincial Court at the end of the month.


April 4th, 2017
Police received a 911 call with the sounds of arguing and a struggle in the background.  Police responded to the residence and discovered that there had been an altercation between two brothers, with one leaving the residence.    While police were speaking with one of the brothers, the other brother returned to the residence.   Police remained with the family to keep the peace and help resolve the situation.  No charges were laid as a result of this incident.


April 4th, 2017
Police received a report of a hit and run accident that occurred on this date around 11 am at the Morden COOP Grocery parking lot.   The owner of a dark grey Nissan Murano returned to their vehicle and noticed some large scrapes on the rear passenger side bumper area.  No information was left on the vehicle and no one took responsibility for the damage.  Anyone with information regarding this incident is asked to call the Morden Police Service at 822-4900, Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477, submit a secure tip online at www.manitobacrimestoppers.com or text “TIPMAN” plus your message to CRIMES (274637).


April 5th, 2017
Police received a report of another computer scam, which resulted in the loss of money.  The victim told police they were contacted by an individual claiming to be from Windows and advising the victim of a virus on their computer.  The caller requested access to the victim’s computer to fix the problem. The victim was then directed to send approximately $2000 for payment through Western Union.  The victim made the transaction before discovering that this was a fraudulent act.

April 5th, 2017
Members of the Morden Police Service were conducting traffic enforcement on Thornhill Street and observed a vehicle being driven by an individual who was known to be a Suspended Driver.  Police conducted a traffic stop on the vehicle and confirmed that the driver was in fact Suspended.   As a result, the 39-year-old male resident of Darlingford was issued a Provincial Offence Notice for Driving While Disqualified and the vehicle was impounded for a mandatory 30 day period

April 6th, 2017
Police received a report from the victim that advised an e-transfer, for a large amount of money, had been fraudulently sent from his account to a friend.  The victim was notified of the e-transfer and it was not accepted by the friend.   The victim’s financial institution has been contacted and the matter is still under investigation.

April 7th, 2017
Members of the Morden Police Service responded to a 9-1-1 call to a residence in Morden.   Police arrived at the residence to discover that there was a family dispute between a father and his son.  Police remained at the residence to help keep the peace between the family members.  No charges were laid as a result of this incident.

April 8th, 2017
Police were on general patrol on Thornhill Street and observed a vehicle being operated by an individual believed to be a suspended driver.  Police conducted a traffic stop and conducted checks on the driver. The driver licence checks confirmed the driver was Suspended.    As a result, the 33 year old male resident of Darlingford was issued a Provincial Offence Notice for Driving While Disqualified and the vehicle was impounded for a mandatory 30 day period.
