The Total Burn Ban for the Town of Altona was lifted as of 5 p.m. Wednesday afternoon. Fire Chief Greg Zimmerman will continue to monitor conditions.

Residents are reminded only fires contained within recreational fire pits, and solid fuel burning appliances are permitted within the Town of Altona, as per the community's Fire Prevention and Emergency Service Bylaw.

The Total Fire Ban had been implemented this past Sunday, May 16th.

Meanwhile, Chief Zimmerman says recreational fire pit use is also allowed once again in the Municipality of Rhineland, but all other burning remains restricted at this time.

Rainfall is expected over the next several days, beginning with the potential for showers and thunderstorms Wednesday evening through Friday night.
