Vehicle owners are being reminded to lock their car doors following a string of thefts in the region.

Between September 14 and 19, 2017 members of the Carman RCMP Detachment received a report of a stolen vehicle as well as reports of numerous other vehicles that were rummaged through. RCMP say this list of items taken from the vehicles included credit cards, ID cards, sunglasses, garage door openers, and cash.

It was reported that in all of the instances, the vehicles had been left unlocked, many with their keys still inside.

"These are crimes of opportunity as thieves will always look for the easiest target," said Sgt. Paul Manaigre of the Manitoba RCMP. "We need to remind motorists to always remove valuables from their vehicles, to never leave any type of identification behind and to lock the doors."

If anyone has any information regarding these thefts or any other criminal activity, please contact the Carman RCMP at 204-745-6760 or call Manitoba Crime Stoppers anonymously at 1-800-222-8477, submit a secure tip online at www.manitobacrimestoppers.com or text TIPMAN plus your message to CRIMES (274637).

Carman RCMP continues to investigate.
