Around 50 racers participated in the 5th annual Snow Crusher 100 on Saturday in Letellier. The 100 mile snowmobile race is a fundraiser with a twist, only sleds built in 1973 or earlier, with single cylinder stock engines, can participate.

"We like to keep it old school," said organizer, Russell Calder, adding finding parts to make sure your snowmobile can run smoothly isn't always easy, and it's best not to leave preparations to the last minute.

"It can be a year-round thing because you have to find parts. You just have to do a little hunting," said Calder.

The fundraiser is in support of Letellier Athletics Association which looks after the community's baseball diamonds, skating rink, and new community centre. Last year, $8,000 was raised.

The unorthodox competition draws people from Ontario, North Dakota, Minnesota, and Saskatchewan.
