The theme of W.C. Miller Collegiate's graduation this year is "Around the World, " and that's where valedictorian Ashley Ginter sees the students of this year's graduating class being in 10 years.

"There's going to be people travelling all over the world, some people probably doing big things with sports, maybe going for Olympics ... getting degrees ... there's going to be a lot of people going into the workforce, just doing big things," Ginter said.

Around 80 students will graduate from W.C. Miller this year. Sixty-five per cent plan to pursue post-secondary education in the future, and 35 per cent intend to enter the workforce following graduation.

This just happens to be the topic of Ginter's valedictorian speech as well. She plans to talk about the significance of all lines of work, not just big careers like medicine or law, she said.

"I'm going to be talking a lot about what's happening in fall; how some people are going post-secondary, but how some people are just going to be staying at home and going to the workforce, but how those are important too," Ginter said.

The valedictorian said one of the lessons she has learned during her time in high school is to "go all in."

"You only have four years in high school," she said. "You might as well do as much as you can just to experience friendships, and relationships, and stuff."

In fall Ginter plans to study social work at the University of Manitoba.
