Perhaps it's fate that the theme of this year's W.C. Miller Collegiate graduation is “Old Hollywood,” as co-valedictorians Miranda Gerbrandt and Matt Fehr say their classmates have bright futures ahead of them.

Around 95 Grade 12 students will be sent off into “the real world” this Thursday at graduation, and Gerbrandt and Fehr said they're not too worried about what the future holds for them.

“We're a diverse group of individuals motivated to work hard and do good in all that we do,” said Fehr.

Though the class is wide spread with ideas and interests, Fehr said sports are the glue that holds them all together.

“I would say that we're probably not necessarily all into sports, but we all enjoy them. Whether we participate or watch, most people are around the sports area,” he said.

Along with sports comes the extroverted and enthusiastic side of people, something Gerbrandt said she thinks the Class of 2017 has more of than previous grades.

Come this fall, Fehr said he plans to attend the School of Ministers at Southland Church in Steinbach to grow stronger in his faith. Gerbrandt, on the other hand, said she plans to work for a year before possibly applying to university.
