The cost to tap into water lines in the rural areas of the R.M. of Stanley is going up.

At its last meeting, council approved a revision to its policy relating to new water hookups.

Prior to the revisions, the minimum set cost for any new hookups occurring in the rural setting was $10,000. The price has now been set at $12,500.

Reeve Morris Olafson said the $12,500 covers the cost to install 80 metres of waterline from curbside to a building. Anything beyond that will be an additional cost to the landowner.

Olafson noted the policy hasn't been changed in 10 years, and the revision reflects the increased cost of digging and materials.
