The Winkler Food Cupboard has moved to a more convenient, central location.

The organization has relocated to Central Station Community Centre at 545 Industrial Drive.

Now people can pick up vouchers at Central Station and simply walk next door to the food cupboard.

"It should be much more efficient," Winkler Food Cupboard Board Member Menno Giesbrecht says.

The new space can stock three weeks of supplies, and walk-in cooler and freezers add the ability to buy in bulk.

"It's bright, it's new, lots of space... it's great," Giesbrecht says.

Fellow Board Member John Dyck notes because of the cramped quarters the former location on Cargill Road wasn't wheelchair friendly either.

Together with Central Station's programming and the Bunker's youth ministries, the location has also become a hub for community services.

The Bunker began work on an expansion last year on the property to make room for the food cupboard.

Bunker Executive Director Kevin Hildebrand says the new location just makes sense.

"Now people no longer have to take that half hour walk down Cargill Road," he says.

The first official day in the new space was March 1
