After a long four-month wait, staff and patrons are be back enjoying the Winkler Centennial Library.

Winkler Branch Librarian Randall Klassen relaxes with a book in one of the comfy chairs in the youth section of the library

On June 9th, a pipe burst, soaking much of the library's carpeting and walls causing extensive damage.

Branch Librarian Randall Klassen says they re-opened October 10th.

"We now have all of our materials here again, we did a big layout change so the books have changed around," said Klassen. "We've changed where they're located, and some of the other things like how the computers are set up. We kept everything as simple as we could so that it's easy to find everything still."

Klassen notes although they do have all of the materials back in place, and operations are running smoothly, not all the repairs from the flood damage have been addressed yet. He notes the front desk and circulation area of the library needs to be gutted and rebuilt from the damage it sustained. That work is expected to get underway within the week.

Once everything is finished, Klassen says they plan to celebrate with a grand re-opening.
