Everyone deserves a home, that's why residents of Morden and Winkler came together to create a Habitat for Humanity chapter for the two communities.

This past Friday members of the chapter, Triple E and interested onlookers gathered in Morden to celebrate the location for the first home in Morden from this chapter.

To provide an affordable home for a family, Triple E generously donated the land on which the home will be built.

Chairperson for Winkler/Morden Habitat Duane Falk, says the community has risen to the occasion to make Habitat a reality in the area.

"It's actually been amazing how it's sort of just fallen in our laps. We had an initial meeting in January where we invited people out, just to give some businesses an idea what Habitat would be like here in Winkler and Morden. "

He says that's when Triple E approached them, they were excited to be a part of Habitat and stayed in contact over the winter.

On May 18 the location of where the first habitat home in Winkler to be built will be unveiled.

Plans are in place to begin fundraising so construction can begin on one of the two lots tentatively scheduled for next spring.
