Three local business owners say respect, integrity and an innovative spirit have led to their success.

Honoured as Winkler's best, the trio will take home hardware at the P.W Enns Business Awards this April.

Taking home the prestigious Business Excellence Award is the Winkler Veterinary Clinic.

Dr. Jacqueline Enns says the Winkler business sector's energy and innovation is contagious.

"It's so innovative, I have family that lives all over North America and they see it when they come here," she says. "They see how much growth is happening every year... just to be a part of it is huge, and then to be honoured in this way is amazing."

She notes they're continually adding new services and procedures in response to client needs.

The clinic offers surgery services, dental, x-ray, and ultrasound, as well as a lab to process blood work.

"The field of veterinary medicine is expanding rapidly," Enns says, adding their staff continue to receive new training.

Other Brother Roasters will receive the Customer Service Award.

Owner Erin Plett explains customer service is based on respect, "we're all humans, we all make mistakes and communicate differently."

She says their business can only as successful as the happiness of their customers.

"We just try to back up our products," she says. "If we sell it, we want to make sure people are satisfied."

Heat Innovations Inc. has been awarded the Business Builder Award.

Operations Manager Colton Wall says the key is a great staff, many with over 20 years of experience, "the right people in the right spot."

"Having people here for such a long time is a testament to the fact they're in the right spot in the company... that's a huge reason Heat Innovations has been successful."

Wall adds the key to growth has been a foundation of honesty and integrity.

"Because of that God has really blessed the business," he says. "It's something I've seen... we truly believe you reap what you sow."

The winners of the 2018 P.W Enns Business Awards, presented by the Winkler and District Chamber of Commerce, will be honoured at a gala April 19.

"The growth, the contributions, and community support are evident in all of the winners," Chamber Executive Director Tanya Chateauneuf says. "We see the innovation, the businesses really looking to grow and provide better products and services to our community."
