Charges are piling up further for a 34-year-old Winkler male after an incident yesterday where he assaulted a member of the Winkler police.

Early Thursday morning officers were called to a complaint of loud music coming from the same residence on Roadrunner Bay where officers investigated a major incident on February 21.

Police arrived at the home and spoke with the adult male who was out on bail as a result of previous criminal charges.

Police confirmed the basis for the complaint and after receiving no cooperation from the male attempted to place him under arrest.  The male physically resisted arrest and assaulted one of the officers before being taken into custody.

The individual has been charged with mischief, assault a peace officer, two counts of resist arrest, and two counts of breach a peace bond.

He was remanded in custody and will appear in Portage la Prairie court this coming Monday.

The police officer was treated at hospital and released for an injury sustained during this arrest.
