Despite the chilly weather Saturday, there was still an enthusiastic crowd out enjoying the events of Altona's 18th annual Winter Carnival.
    
Eric Hildebrand with Altona Recreation said he feels the weather did keep some away.  "It's a tough event to plan with the winter weather, but those that are here, I'm happy to see that we have a crowd of people out braving the elements and enjoying themselves."

The carnival featured some classic events, like cardboard races, horse and sleigh rides, bonfires and hot chocolate, but also introduced two new events.  A scavenger hunt and pond curling were both introduced this year.
