The City of Morden along with students at the local high school have completed the second instalment of Confederation Park's memorial walk.

History teacher Darryl Toews worked with the students who put the World War II (WWII) plaques together.

The plaques showcase the major events throughout WWII and how residents of Morden were involved.

"I think it's just a good reminder to the community about the sacrifice that was made in both conflicts," said Toews.

Toews noted there are a variety of plaques on display including conscientious objectors and the role women played in the second world war.

Students David Crauer, David Elias and Ilya Karpov worked on the information on the plaques with the guidance of Toews.

"It was a very solemn reaction from the students," said Toews. "I think they realize the importance of honouring those men and women who served, many of whom didn't come home."

There will be more pieces added to Confederation park in the near future. Toews has found a number of people who need to be added to the cenotaph and a few murals will be erected as well.
